The Third Kings Own Light Dragoons participated in the first Sikh war of 1845, distinguishing themselves at the Battle of Moodkee on the 18th of December 1845 and at the Battle of Ferozeshah on the 22nd of December 1845. The regiment would then be stationed at Ferozepore until the 18th of January 1846, before heading to the army headquarters in Jelliwallah on the 20th of
