William Haslam had been ordained a few years previous. He served first in Baldiu, but knew himself to be unconverted. It haunted him. Then, in 1851, the church gardener was converted. Haslam at first thought him under a delusion. He was assured however, and led to grace by revivalist, Robert Aitken. The result was not only his own conversion, but a revival in Cornwall. The present
